There are two types of organic sunflower oil:
· High Oleic (Melrose Organic Sunflower Cooking Oil ); and
· Linoleic (Melrose Organic Sunflower Salad Oil).
Melrose Organic Sunflower Salad Oil is high in Linoleic (poly-unsaturated) acid. It is extensively used throughout the food service industry in salad dressings and for margarine production. Linoleic sunflower also has important health benefits and is reported to have possible cholesterol reducing qualities.

Good quality oils need to be expeller-pressed at temperatures below 45oC and not solvent extracted. They should not be subjected to high heat temperatures, deodorizing, bleaching or alkali refining. Melrose Organic Unrefined oils are produced by pressing seeds at less than 40oC. The oil is then bottled under nitrogen and packed in amber bottles to reduce both photon and auto-oxidation preserving both the nutritional value and the fresh taste.
