Melrose Almond Brazil & Cashew nut spread

Melrose Almond Brazil & Cashew nut spread

Melrose has established that equal quantities of Almonds, Brazil and Cashew nuts can supply a good balance of protein. Our ABC Spread contains all three of these nutritious nuts, giving you the taste you love and the nutrition you need.

In fact humans need approximately 19 grams of protein a day and meat has been the most usual source of protein for humans, but this raises a dilemma for vegetarians and others wishing to consume less meat.

Melrose ABC nut spread provides an adequate source of quality protein, and also provides important amino acids.

Almonds are the most alkaline of all nuts, which alone is a major benefit. Taken regularly, one handful of almonds per day is an optimum way to ensure proper nerve functioning, nerve transmission and correct muscular and glandular activity. Almonds are an excellent source of calcium and magnesium. Magnesium works with calcium to support healthy muscles and bones in the body.

The sweet tasting Brazil nuts are particularly healthy due to their high protein and selenium content, which makes their protein content "complete". This means that, unlike the proteins in most plant products, Brazil nuts' proteins contain all the necessary amino acids to foster optimal growth in humans (in the same way as proteins from animal products do). Selenium is also a powerful antioxidant linked to lower rates of cancer and heart disease. Brazil nuts are also a very good source of zinc (essential to digestion and metabolism).

Cashew nuts have a high content of monounsaturated fats, copper and magnesium. Cashews have no cholesterol and are an energizing food. Cashew nuts have a high energy density and high amount of dietary fibre, both have been attributed to a beneficial effect on weight management, but only when eaten in moderation

Hints and tips

Why is there oil in the top of the jar?

Why is there oil in the top of the jar?

Melrose nut spreads are made from 100% lightly roasted nuts. Unlike most peanut butters the natural oils in Melrose nut spreads are not subjected to hydrogenation. In normal spreads this hydrogenation turns liquid oils into solids so that they will not separate out. However hydrogenation also produces Trans fatty acids and these have negative health effects.

  • Melrose nut spreads contain only natural oils.
  • Melrose Nut spreads contain no hydrogenated Oils.
  • Melrose nut spreads contain no Trans fats.

When using Melrose nut spreads, simply stir in the natural oils. Do not pour off the oil as this will leave you with a dry spread.
